Operator (bartender) licenses are required for individuals who serve or sell alcoholic beverages at licensed establishments. Applicants must be at least 18-years-old and must have completed a responsible beverage training course. Courses are offered through MATC, Waukesha Technical College, and bartending schools. License operators not only include traditional “bartenders”, but also wait staff and individuals who sell liquor or beer at licensed stores. Operator licenses are valid for two-year cycles, expiring on June 30 of even-numbered years, and cost $60.00. Proof of responsible beverage training course is only required for new licenses. Operator license applicants are subject to a police background check. These licenses must be approved by the Village Board at a regular Committee of the Whole and Board of Trustees meetings. Applications are reviewed the first and second Monday of the month. Applications should be received by the Village Clerk no later than the Thursday before the first Monday of the month to be considered. Provisional operator’s licenses are available for individuals who desire to be licensed prior to a regular approval.
